Cherry Coffee Cake

1 cup butter
1 1/2c sugar
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3c flour
1 1/2tsp baking powder
1/2tsp salt
1 can cherry pie filling

glaze
1 1/2c powdered sugar
2T melted butter
milk --enough to make a thin icing

preheat oven to 350. cream the butter and sugar. add eggs and vanilla. sift and add dry ingredients. mix well. spread 2/3rds into bottom of 9x9 pan, cover with cherry pie filling then dollop the rest of batter on top. bake 30-40min. mix glaze ingredients and pour over warm cake.
