Mexican Sopapillas


1 package yeast
1/4 c. lukewarm milk
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
4 c. flour
1 egg
Dissolve the yeast in the milk. Mix in the rest well, cover and let rise until double. roll out thin on lightly floured board,then cut in squares. Let rise again slightly. Fry in hot oil. Serve with honey or cinnamon/sugar mixture.
